It is generally accepted that golfers with fast aggressive swings are best suited to higher swingweights. Golfers with smooth slower tempos normally benefit from lighter swingweights. A quick check of your current clubs could make a world of difference.
This is one of the hottest topics in club making and could make a great deal of difference in feel for many golfers. When golf clubs are properly counter weighted to individual specifications players can realize distance and accuracy improvements through better control of the club. The method employs extra weight at the butt end of the club which has the affect of lightening the swingweight without reducing mass at the head and makes controlling the club easier, especially at the top of the swing. This method is best suited for slower swingers who do not have the strength to generate much clubhead speed.
Another method is OWT, Optimal Weighting Technology which improves the static and balance weights of a club to match a golfers unique swing. To achieve this the mass at each end of a club must be adjustable to allow the golfer to experience the changing dynamics and balance of the club.
The lie of the golf club, particularly the shorter irons 6 - sw is very important. Too upright and the ball will be pulled. To flat and the push or slice is probable. Note: Not all irons are bendable. Phone for advice.
